The Dolomites are a stunning mountain range located in northeastern Italy. This range is part of the Southern Limestone Alps and is known for its dramatic and distinctive jagged peaks, which are composed primarily of a type of sedimentary rock called dolomite, from which the name “Dolomites” is derived. The Dolomites are renowned for their unique and picturesque landscapes, making them a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, and tourists.
One of the most iconic photo spots is at Lagos di Brais. It is a lake in Dolomites with perfectly reflective water where people can rent paddle boats. Looking for that perfect mountain photo without needing to hike to get there? This is your spot!

Why You Should
Visit this Lake
This was a great start to our morning! It is a very easily accessible location that has multiple activity options. There is a hotel, restaurant, and snack area. We brought our own breakfast and had a picnic on a bench by the lake. You can experience the Dolomites without any hiking necessary!
A big reason people visit is because of the amazing reflection of the entire mountain on the lake. If you arrive before 10 AM, all of the paddle boats are floating hooked together creating a picturesque view. It is often recommended to arrive at sunrise for even better views. We chose to get there around 8 am and it wasn’t too busy. As it got closer to the opening of the boats, it did get busier and there was a decent line already started.
If you do love to hike, there are multiple trails that start at the lake. There is an option to walk around to the other side of the lake to get a different view. It is a mostly flat trail to get to the other side and definitely worth it!
