City Tours and Unique
Naples Experiences
Naples is home to many unique locations that have a deep history. These range from spooky tunnels to creepy museums.
1. Bourbon Tunnels
Step into history as you step into Naples underground. Throughout hundreds of years these tunnels have served different purposes. From 500 years ago when the passages were originally created for the military to the 1900s when it was utilized as a safe haven for Neapolitans during the war. It is still possible to find cars and motorbikes that have been left behind. Sound like your jam? Click here for a tour — Bourbon Tunnel Tour.
2. Cursed Island
A great way to spend the afternoon is swimming up to the cursed island of Gaiola. It is an abandoned set of two islands that are connected by a rock bridge. All of the previous owners or residents have suffered tragic fates from deaths to economic ruin. It is believed that the Wizard who lived as a hermit on the island in the 19th century cursed it after his sudden disappearance.
To visit this island, it is necessary to take a smaller back road to the beach area. The beach does close and has a gate so plan to go earlier in the day to ensure having time to visit.
***Hot Tip: If you plan to use the Lime Bikes, periodically check if you are able to leave the bike parked. Right by the road to this area it is not possible to park the bikes. ***

General Recommendations
For Naples
- Check the hours online and be prepared for them to be wrong. There were multiple places we went that the hours were earlier or later than listed.
- Wear good shoes for walking. We almost always ended up walking further than planned during our visit.
- Don’t use the Lime Bikes. Use a taxi instead to save the headache.
- Don’t walk alone. There are tons of back roads that are very empty and sketchy.
