Are you visiting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and hoping to spend some time shopping? Shopping Kuala Lumpur is one of the most unique experiences! From malls to street markets to a road lined with shops, there is something for everyone. It is easily possible to spend an entire day just shopping throughout the city. Here is a comprehensive list of shopping centers that should make your to-do list!
Petaling Street China Town
This market is hard to miss with the decorations and lively energy emitting from every road. It’s possible to spend a couple of hours walking up and down these streets taking in the many different shops. It’s possible to find a range of clothing, shoes, and knockoff purses here. Many other souvenirs can also be found. Plan to grab some food or a snack while you wander from a variety of vendors. This is a great place to haggle if something catches your eye!
Chow Kit Market
If you have a weak stomach this might be a market to skip in Kuala Lumpur. This is one of the best and biggest wet markets you will find. There’s tons of fresh, sometimes extremely fresh, food options to buy from. Be prepared for strong smells and lively energy. Though there are many wet markets throughout Asia, this one really stands out!
It is located on the northern end of Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, approximately 2.5 kilometres (1.6 miles) from KLCC and the Petronas Towers. Open from 6:00 am until 5:00 pm so there is plenty of time to visit during the day.
According to some sources, there is a sketchy area they deem the red light district. It is down a few streets just past the market and it’s recommended not to be wandering that area at night.

LINC KL Shopping
A super unique shopping center is LINC KL. It has a modern vibe with a ton of artwork and pops of color. One of our favorite art pieces was the rainbow paper cranes. The shops are full of colorful clothing and creative decor. This is also a great place to stop for lunch if you are looking for a decent restaurant to sit down at.
More into nature than shopping? Check out the huge trees that are inside the mall! Let your artsy, nature loving heart soar at this shopping center.

Mid Valley MegaMall
This mega mall is, well, MEGA! It’s impossible to go in every shop in one day. If there is a shop you like or want to try out, you’ll likely find it here. From shopping to restaurants and sweet treats, you’ll spend all day exploring. If you are looking for a place to relax, check out the cinema on the top floor! The shops range from luxury to home maintenance. Stopping for a few hours here is a great way to get out of the heat while still enjoying the culture of different shops.
If you are a solo female traveller, they have a dedicated parking area in the garage to help you feel more safe. This includes CCTV surveillance and emergency assistance buttons. There’s tons of parking and they offer valet.

Zhongshan Building
Art lovers will fall in love at this peculiar old building. In a very unassuming location, this multi-story labyrinth has a variety of shops. Our favorites were a record store and the natural wellness store. Make sure to check online ahead of time before visiting to see which exhibits they are holding for artists. After wandering through the art, pop downstairs and grab a cold coffee from one of the shops!
The fun part of this building being out of the hubble bubble is seeing all of the street art along the way. Be weary as the area can feel a little sketchy since it is not as busy and the building can be harder to find.
Address: Jalan Kampung Attap, 80 – 84, Jalan Rotan, 50460 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
